Public libraries offer all kinds of book genres, and yes, they also carry porn! Susie starts today´s show off with a look at the New York Public Library´s extensive erotica collection. In the past, the library classified all racy materials with a triple star (***), which meant you could only view them under supervision. But now many pulp fictions and hidden treasures have been liberated and are more accessible. What fun to peruse vintage erotic Japanese imagery or read Henry Miller´s typewritten manuscript for Tropic of Capricorn. Time to renew your library card! Next, Susie smells a rat. A swinger complained to Susie´s colleague, fellow sexpert Louloria, that all people in the polyamory scene are ugly. Susie weighs in on what she might have recommended to the complainer - and speculates on why this guy is pointing a finger at a group he wants to be part of. Then, it´s ´´What´s New on Audible´´. An unusual book that´s part poetry, memoir, and fiction is this week´s pick. No Apologies by J. A. Carter-Winward, who also narrates, is a compelling slice of human experience in all its crass, hopeful, and tender glory. Have a question or news story for Susie? If the sexy construction crew were Powertools, their cousin mechanics are sure to be Hot Rods. Nothing´s sexier than seven men with hot rods. Hot Rods, Book 1 After Eli´s mother died, his father honored her life´s mission as a social worker by taking in several kids from the wrong side of the tracks. Not all of them stuck, but those who did became Eli´s quasi family. Their bonds, forged in fires set by their personal demons, are unbreakable - or so Eli wants to believe. Especially since he and Alanso, his best friend and head mechanic, witnessed the overpowering allure of polyamory while visiting the Powertools crew. Much as Eli would like to deepen the relationships among his foster brothers and sister in the Hot Rods Restoration Team, he´s hesitant to risk everything on a quick romp behind a stack of tires. But when Eli catches Alanso exploring their mutual fantasy at a known hookup spot in a public park, all bets are off. And Eli must decide if it´s time to jump in full throttle - and trust his instincts to guide him through the night. If the pair of mechanics can dodge the potholes in their own relationship, maybe they can race together toward the unconventional arrangement with Mustang Sally they both desire. Warning: Fasten your seatbelts, this is going to be a wild (and naughty) ride! 1. Language: English. Narrator: Gregory Salinas. This book brings together the most recent work of Caribbean psychologists in the English-speaking islands of Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad on gender and sexuality. The authors analyse the unique challenges posed by contradictions between cultural values and modern sexual expression in the region. They examine a broad range of topics such as conceptions of gender roles in primary school children, sexual behavior and emotional social intelligence in adolescents, and sexual identities and orientations in adults. Chapters cover issues including how women who have sex with women (WSWs) self-identify, the Lebenswelt (life world) of men who have sex with men (MSM) in Jamaica, transsexual care and its psychological impact, the influence of music on sexuality, how intimacy is defined, as well as the relationship between identity formation and the fear of intimacy in Jamaica, and the practice of polyamory in Jamaica and Trinidad. This distinctive collection is the first of its kind, grounded in both qualitative and quantitative research. It presents a sophisticated comparative analyses of the cultures of the Anglophone Caribbean represented by Trinidad, Jamaica and Barbados to offer a broader discussions of intimacy and relationships. With practical implications for therapy, it will be of great interest to scholars and practitioners of gender and sexuality studies, psychology and culture.
